Psychedelic Hodgepodge

Here's a clip that seems to capture a bit of the 60s, 70s, and 80s (I'm not sure it goes much further than that).

Quite a Quartet

Over the past week I received a few new machines in the mail (just a coincidence that they all showed up around the same time).

A Keeley 4 Knob Compressor. I really like this one. Makes humbucker-equipped guitars sing. Take a listen:

I also obtained one of the more fun new pedals out there, the Boss Rotary Ensemble. It works very well along with the Keeley:

Just today, a Keeley Modded Boss Blues Driver showed up. Excellent timing, as the Blues Driver seems to be the perfect overdrive sound to go with the Rotary Ensemble (The built-in overdrive on the OD-20 doesn't seem quite as authentic). Toward the end of this clip you can here the Rotary Ensemble's impression of a Uni-Vibe. While the Uni-Vibe model has already received some poor reviews, I think it sounds fine. The discriminating ear (I.E., the kind that is inclined to shell out the $200 + for a good handmade analog vibe clone) will probably not prefer this model to the real thing, but it gets the job done.

Boss Rotary Ensemble

Do you remember that Calvin and Hobbes series where Calvin ate a whole bunch of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs so that he could send away for a beanie?

He then waited for weeks and weeks and weeks, checking the mail at every opportunity and dreaming about the day when he could fly all over the world with his beanie.

That's how I felt about this here Boss Rotary Ensemble. Except this is pretty much everything I hoped it would be. It doesn't require assembly and it doesn't seem like it will break right away. It is, however, quite spinny.
